the photographer disease

July 9th, 2008 (12:56 pm)

I was busy getting ready for a meeting this morning, and late. As I grabbed my notebook on the way out, I accidentally knocked over the small flower vase on my work table. Water spilled out and began to flow toward my external hard drive.

It surprised me, since there were dried flowers in the vase, and I wasn't expecting water. I wasn't expecting to knock it over either, but these things happen. It's what makes life interesting.

So the water is heading toward the hard drive, and my first thought isn't, "I better move it out of the way and grab some paper towels to clean this mess up."

No, my first thought is, "That would make a good picture."

he is on a cellphone! and he has a cup of coffee in his other hand. When you squeeze him, he makes the most delightful squeal.

"All will be well," he smiles.

And it did make for a great picture!

Hope you cleaned up the mess before it hit your hard drive ;)

Hi. I added you after seeing your name on [info]mactavish's nursing people list. I'm finishing up my ns prereqs now and hoping to start nursing school in the spring if I can manage to get in anywhere. Just telling you so I'm not some random stranger!

Also, since you live near me - do you happen to have any comments on any of the nursing schools in the Sacramento area?

Yeah--as soon as I saw Mary's name on your friend list, I figured it must have been her nursing post. She has an amazing ability to connect people.

I am partial to Sac City, because I went there originally, and because I sometimes teach in one of their nursing programs. I think it has the best clinical preparation of all the schools in the area.

But the way things are trying to get into a program, I always tell people to apply everywhere and see what happens.

What made you decide to get into nursing?

Yes, that's exactly what I intend to do.

I hope to get into the Sac City/Sutter extended campus program, but will be applying everywhere within possibly reasonable commuting range for Spring, and further away for Fall (if necessary), when moving is an option.

What made you decide to get into nursing?

Short version - I got involved with the volunteer doula program at Sutter Davis a few years ago, and that led me to see nursing as something that fit well with my life-long interests.

Thanks!

The Sac City/Sutter program is the one I teach in--4th semester. I like the program, but it is intense, since it is time-compressed.

I like that aspect of it. For one, I really need to get through school and get a job. At least as importantly, I've found I go absolutely stir-crazy during breaks. I'm otherwise a stay at home parent and school provides my primary intellectual and social stimulation. Since I have no need to take summer classes to complete co-requisites or other degree requirements, the intensive schedule seems ideal to me.

Then it's just the program for you!

Good luck with your applications and such.
