April 5--served with a garlic crouton

I managed to get almost caught up at work in anticipation of spring break next week. All my lectures for the next 3 weeks are posted, I filed a stack of papers, and met with each of my students about their ongoing preceptorships. I still have a couple of undesirable tasks yet to do, but I have two more days.

My allergies are killing me. I spent the entire morning sneezing and coughing. I forgot to take allergy medicine. Interestingly, it was only at work--once I got home it subsided. I can't wait to get out on the coast and the rainy weather.

Had I not asked for an extension on my doctoral project, I would be in Boise now, preparing to present it in the morning. I would like to be there to support my friends, but there was no way I would have been ready for approval. It's bittersweet.

I noticed that our first rose had bloomed today in the front yard. There are two of them. I took a picture, but it had a weird late-afternoon glow to it, so I decided to run it through a filter and enhance the glow, mostly to make a crappy picture less crappy.

I have some plans for that rose tomorrow.

I also decided to be the last person in the world to play around with the Prisma photo filter application. I tried it on the rose first, but it looked dumb. So I tried it on something else:

I don't think I am willing to call this a photograph, but it is kind of interesting.
