July27--Last day in town

We spent most of yesterday in the car coming back form the place we stayed outside of Bangkok with Malida's friends. It is some sort of holiday here, so traffic was worse than usual. We left at about 9:30 am, and stopped along the way at a few places, and hit the outskirts of Bangkok at about 4. By 8 pm, we were still nowhere near where we needed to be, and we got dropped off at the metro, to make our way back to the hotel. We got here at 9 pm, completely beat. "Never again," I exclaimed!

One of the places we stopped along the way was the Namtok Phlio National Park. It's a beautiful place with some cool waterfalls and other attractions. We looked around for a while and took some pictures. I will post more later, but I have only cellphone shots for now.

There was some crew filming some Thai show while we were there. I don't know what the show was. After this it was back in the car for hours and hours. I had my book with me, and read about 200 pages of it. I finished it just before we got dropped off. It was good.

Today we didn't feel like doing much of anything, so we got on the ferry boat and rode all the way up the Chao Phraya river to the last stop, walked around in the market there, and rode back. This afternoon we packed, and this evening we will go out to the night market to buy souvenirs. Tomorrow morning is our flight home. I have loved the trip, but am so ready to come home and have an In 'n' Out Burger.

Rama IX

The Rama IX bridge--my favorite bridge over the river.
